Do I need a visa to stay in Malaysia for 5 days on my way to India from US.?

I am in US in J1 visa . I wish to visit my friend in Malaysia and would propably stay just for 5 days on my way back to India.Do I need to apply for Transit Visa, or its ok if I just show the Ticket to India.

Are you Indian? A visa is required. If coming as a tourist, the visa can be obtained upon arrival, for a maximum stay of 30 days. It might be easier though, to get one beforehand. I assume you are an Indian passport holder. Yes, a visa is required. In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007, malaysian government is making it easier for tourists to obtain their visas by allowing them to apply upon arrival at the airport. This will save you the hassle of applying for visa at the Malaysian Embassy. You are and Indian and flying from US , you'll get your visa smoothly upon arrival. ( Just for your information, Indians nationals who fly from Chennai are not allowed to apply their visas upon arrival because before this, many non genuine tourists took advantage of the ease of getting a visa and overstayed their visas and infact many never return to India )
