Do you find it funny that the media in our country seems to potray that becoming an astronout is an easy?

task. Wouldn't that sent a wrong signal to the younger generations. Surely it will make them confuse between a space traveler and a astronaut. As if that being an astronaut and is very easy. Although the fact is the angkasa 1 is actually a space traveler

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_touri...

I am agree that some of Shen Yi ideas are correct. That guy physically is suitable to become a astronaut. I believe that Jadi was tried to ask is why Malaysia media was taken this incident lightly. I believe that most of the media believed that this astronaut was send out of space purely Malaysia government willing to pay the price. It is like a tour to space. No big deal.

I find it funny how the media portrays everything in our country. Objective my @ss!

yes...

well after reading your question I think it would be much harder for YOU then it would for the younger generations...they still have chance to be literate!

Encouraging children to dream is never the wrong answer!!!

Huh..weird..I don't see it as easy.
If it's easy, we don't have to wait til now to send someone to the outer space.
Come on, why can't y'all be proud of our country? D'oh.
It's like you're saying we sent a loser to the outer space.
Do you really know how many took part to be in his position now? Do you have any idea what he went through to be where he is now? It's obviously not an easy task.
Why wanna question whether he's not a real astronaut or whatsoever??
Even the people from other country are impressed, why are there still some Malaysian that wouldn't support their own country's success?

Shen Yi, this is not a sucess, this is money can buy "sucess".

yes. you really cannot believe the media but rather check things out in your own research and figure things out audaciously.

i don't think so. i'm proud enough for the candidate chosen. people here want to see 'things happen'. it makes them more excited.

and also, i don't want to waste my money to buy newspaper and read the full elaboration on how hard it is to be this or that. it's just boring and won't sell newspaper. i'm better off buying some really good books that give overall coverage on certain topics with full reference. if newspaper want to highlights things like that, it will be too lengthy, don't you think?

who cares it is space travelling or what. it is something we should be proud about. when i was a small kid, the term doesn't make any difference at all...everybody that goes outerspace i call them astronaut.

furthermore, newspapers are read by all groups of people. some of them might not be lucky enough to pursue higher education. simplicity is one good way for people to understand and enjoy the achievements...

as for the television and all, i do understand why they potray it to be easy. they want to encourage people to aim high. they also want to show people if you are good, hardworking, government will help you make your dream become a reality.
they want us to believe that not all ambitions and dream is impossible...

Thing is ,will the press get into trouble if they use the word 'space traveler' instead of 'astronaut'?At the rate this country is going.....Look at the Judge's case....the palace in the kampong....Truely Boleh,in that sense.

Yes, very funny indeed.
He is just a space tourist for goodness' sake!!!
How could one minister even mention that USA is jealous???!!!!
USA has nothing to be jealous about Malaysia.....jeeeeeeez!!!
Oh well, simple minds have simple things.....lol.
Giving the wrong impression or thought would.....oooooooops....
---**zipped**---

[edit] HAVE MONEY WILL TRAVEL !!!...YAYYYY....Malaysia Boleh!!!!
------------------

yeah...the politician liked to use the word "astronaut" when Dr Muszaphar is not one actually...malaysian politicians loves to think they 'can'~~...

aiyah for once just be happy lah
i'm quite impressed actually that malaysia send someone up there.
