Is November good enough to travel thru Madagascar or is the rain going to spoil my vacation? |
I would like to travel to Madagascar in November until mid December (6 weeks). But I keep reading that it is rainy season during that time. Unfortunately that's the only time when my boss let's me go on holiday. Is it still good enough to travel thru Madagascar when it is rainy season or will it be too stressy and difficult to travel around? Most rain here falls between November and March, much of it in heavy downpours with hail and thunder. Rainfall during the rest of the year is mostly very light and sporadic. On the plateau temperatures fall to moderate levels during the dry season and the nights may be chilly, but frost only occurs on the highest mountains. I was in Madagascar (Antananarivo the entire time) in January and February, and it rained every day from mid-afternoon until nighttime. I walked and took taxis everywhere I went, so even with a long, heavy raincoat, I was soaked from the shoulders up and the knees down. Fortunately, it is approaching summertime during November and December (because it's the southern hemisphere), so it will be very warm. That was what made the rain bearable. |
