What is madagascar?

A large island just off the east coast of Mozambique - just above South Africa. Its capital has changed name a couple of times. Used to be Tananarive or Tananarivo, now, I believe, Antananarivo.

Beautiful place, lovely people - home to the largest colony of Lemur Monkeys in the world, which happen to be commom to the island.

Madagascar is like a little city in Africa

It's an island east of Africa in the Indian ocean, which is right now getting pounded by typhoons.

Everybody told you where it is,thus,I'll not insist on it.

-It's the 4th island in the world about extention.
-But the most important thing is about his natural environments : some 140 millions years ago,it splitted from Africa,and from that moment his flora and fauna developed separately from it.
-What ,actually,you can find in Africa is not the same than in Madagascar and vice versa.
You can find there so many particular(endangered)species of plants and animals that make of Madagascar a unique natural environment and country.

-About the people living there,they look more as Asiatics than Africans,with some exceptions on the coasts,on which Arab sailors incursioned in the centuries.
-They are poor people.Comunications are bad(roads especially).
But they are kind people.
-I was there as a journalist and as photographer.
I found there so many different possibilities about photo and articles,that in my first period there I was pretty "confused".
You'd need years to "cover" Madagascar from the point of wiew of a journalist ,specialized,as I was/am ,in natural environment.
Was a hard experience,but,surely,I would like to go back there one day.
It's "too fascinating".

Ps.For Divers ,I'd like to suggest Nosy Be island,on the north west.Just wanderfull.
