Family friendly activities in Palm Springs area?

We're thinking of going to the Living Desert next week with our twenty month old child. What else is there to do in the area with kiddos?

I lived in Palm Springs for a number of years and tried to raise three young children. Aside from The Living Desert there really isn't anything fun or friendly for kids.

Funny thing: A number of years ago one of the major business magazines listed the worst places to raise a family and Palm Springs was number one worst. I have to agree with their assessment.

PS is a retirement/gay town. They do not like small children.

tram rides through an open zoo

There is also an ariel tram ride up into a forest area. It has great views and fun nature trails. The ride up there is amazing. Also I have always enjoyed bike riding in palm springs. Do any of you play golf???
