Looking for a decent hotel in LA / Hollywood??

I am taking my Australian relatives over to LA for their first visit. We want to see Hollywood, Universal Studios, etc and would like to stay in a hotel not too far. But most hotels I find online in that area under $130 are 2 stars or less and my relatives are older and would like to stay somewhere nicer but not pay out the nose. Thanks for any suggestions.

Try either the Ramada in West Hollywood or the one in Hollywood. It think their rates are around $128 a night and they are decent hotels.

try the holiday inn, walk of fame, about 165 per night, its walking distance to Hollywood blvd, Mann's theater and the Hollywood and highland center (Kodak theater) 10 minutes from universal studios and the Hollywood bowl. the ramada is a dump.

Hi Squeaker!

Unfortunately, the price of real estate and hotels is VERY expensive. You're going to have to spend a little more if you want to stay that close to Hollywood. I usually recommend the Best Western Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood. The Holiday Inn Express on Highland is also good.

i stayed at the best western about a year ago and it was decent, clean and no frills. i stayed at the econo lodge about 2 months ago and it was a little nicer than the best western so i would recommend it. i got a great deal on this website too, they gave an additional 10% for stays over 2 nights: http://www.travelcusehotels.com . the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck!
