Can I survive in California by modeling and a part time job?

Will i be able to live comfortably, and enjoy life not worrying about if i will be able to make rent the next month? I heard the cost of living is insane!! i live in texas btw

Im a guy btw

That is the dream of too many people, and LA is full of people who wish they could. It is VERY expensive to live here, and SO competitive!

Here is my advice: do some modeling at home and build a portfolio and gain some experience there first. Save up money so you have a nest egg. Then, with plans laid, see if you can line up a job here and give it a go with a SHORT time frame, like 6 months to a year. If you can accomplish it, great.

That would give you time to check it out, and you might do it. But then you could return to your life, knowing you had tried, but not wasting years and years trying and failing, chasing a truly impossible dream. There are too many of those people in LA, waiting tables, sad and disappointed. I would not like to see that for you.

no you will not - everyone that is cute or pretty is trying to be a model - housing is expensive - gas is expensive food is expensive.

if your a female with big **** amd a tight pussy, very likely

Well considering that a lot of us with full time jobs have trouble surviving, yes it will be difficult for you.

You need $1500 per month to cover your monthly cost( rent $700 shared apt, utilities and phone $200 ,food $200, transportation including gas and insurance $200, others $200, hope your employer cover your medical care, otherwise, it costs $400 for a single)

So, figure out how much you can make.

What do you mean by comfortably? I survived pretty well acting and modeling and only working part time鈥 was a starving artist but I was comfortable. If you want to live the glamour life then it will be hard. If you want to make it you may have to make sacrifices. I lived in North Hollywood with 3 other roommates and grocery shopped at the 99 Cents Only store or Food 4 Less. I drove a red scooter everywhere and it was great! I even got around on public transportation when my scooter was in the shop and it was not that bad. I always had money in my pocket, no credit card debt, and I was chasing my dream. I had the best roommates because none of us was ever there. So I had time to myself at my apartment when needed during the day!! Everyone says that it is so expensive out there but it is not that bad. Food is the same price as it is here in MN the only major difference is rent and gas. But there is a fix for everything such as for rent get roommates or live in Korea Town. My friend lives there and only pays $550 for a studio apartment and it is really decent. To help with the cost of gas get a scooter!! Mine cost $900 did 55 mph, rush hour does not exist because you can drive on the white line, and I got 84 mpg!!

The bottom line is that you have to set a budget and stick to it. Make Cali. work for you until you get the hang of things. I love it there and can鈥檛 wait to move back this summer!!!!

I live in So Cal and I have yet to see an apt for $700 a month it's more like $1,000 just for rent and forget about living in a nice area! No you won't be able to make it on a part time job (unless you're a part time doctor or stripper) and if you're from texas it's really going to be an adjustment.

However, I think it's totally worth it! I would never move out of state!

Housing here in California is definitely much more expensive than Texas. Besides, there's a lot of competition here in California when it comes to modeling.

The only way you can live comfortably here in CA with a p/t job is if that job pays A LOT of money or if you simply find yourself a sugar daddy or someone who can either pay or help pay your cost of living.

Good luck to you!
