I Live in Glendale and Cars Have 2007 Registration Stickers?

I've noticed so many of these stickers and of course a certain people's that can get away with it.


What gives. I pay mine on time always. Why aren't cops doing their job or enforecement???

How much is a ticket for NOT having a 2008 sticker?

In any jurisdiction, there are only so many police officers that can do so much. If they focus solely on car registrations, that would likely take away from enforcement of other (perhaps more serious) issues.

Well, a lot of people seem to get away with it, but if you look as the year goes by, later in the month, the cops need top make their quotas, and I think they start pulling people over more. Earlier, they can call in license numbers, and if the computer returns that they have paid (maybe they have the sticker but just didn't put it on yet), they don't bother. Just my pet theory.

Don't know the cost of a ticket, though.

On one of our vehicles, we sent in the money, got the smog check and still got nothing. Then a notice came asking for some insurance verification. My husband sent that in, and STILL nothing! We are wondering if we will get stopped... but the state has all the info and we should be good. So we may find out if my theory works. :)

Stealing tags is popular in my area but I don't think this applies there. A popular trick is to send in the registration money and not send in the insurance or smog info. This delays the process for a few weeks each time while the smog check (adjustments or repairs) is done or insurance is updated. Six weeks into the year someone is taking a chance. Tags may have been paid but the sticker not applied.
Another popular scheme is to never put new plates on a new car. Instead just keep the paper plates on from the dealer, or just the back plate. With no plates no one can bother you curbside. This way you can enter the toll lanes of the freeway and also not get caught in the red light cameras at the intersections. With the picture the city or state doesn't know you from Adam. If your car/SUV looks new, the authorities won't know the difference between a brand new vehicle (or newer one off the lot) and one a few yrs old.
