I'm makeing it about a 5 night trip.

i mean hwy 1

You are planning a gorgeous trip. I love this part of California's wine country...it is beautiful with lots of good wine and beautiful scenery.

There are many fabulous wineries located in the area around Solvand, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Santa Cruz, as well as Napa and Sonoma.

Take a look at this guide to the wineries of California's Central Coast: http://www.cheers2wine.com/central-coast...

Eat lunch or dinner At Cafe Angelica in Solvang....enjoy a hot mineral jacuzzi at Sycamore Mineral Springs just south of San Luis Obispo and be sure to dine at McPhee's Grill near Paso Robles. If you are adventurous, rent an ATV and ride the Pismo Dunes.

Have a wonderful trip!

ooh i know. since i live in the middle central area, santa barbara. you have to stop by the beaches and shopping! lots to do, lots to do

Hearst Castle: http://www.hearstcastle.com/
Solvang: http://www.solvangca.com/
Pea Soup Anderson's: http://www.peasoupandersens.net/
Winchester Mystery House: http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/

Check out Montery, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, any of the missions interest you? Wine Tasting along the way?

In addition ...some famous people in Santa Barbara...Oprah, Steve Martin, Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits, Davey Jones of the Monkees, if you have a tour guide also, take the cut off in northern Santa Barbara to see the Santa Inez Valley. There are wineries and Michael Jackson's ranch (only an outside view due to the tall trees)
Monterey Aquarium and Pier
Don't stop in Oakland at night

You might also post this in the San Fran section I am sure they know wine country better than we do..

Santa Barbara- Restaurants and shops on State Street
Pismo Beach/San Luis Obispo
Hearst Castle- A monument to excess. Incredible.
Monterey/Carmel- Be sure to visit the aquarium and Cannery Row
