Has anyone ever been to the Wallace collection gallery in london?

There is an amazing place called the Wallace collection in london its a fantastic 18th century gallery has anyone been there

yes i've been, its really pretty.

no

I've never heard of it and have been to most places of interest in London, where is it? :o)

Yes - I love it! It's crammed full of wonderful pictures (including Franz Hals' "Laughing Cavalier"), porcelain, armour, etc, and is a veritable little treasure house. It also has special exhibitions; I loved the Boucher one a couple of years ago.

The house itself is lovely too, especially the huge gallery directly upstairs. Though I will say the shop used to be much better than it is now.

I recommend it to everyone, particularly as it's just behind Selfridges in Oxford Street!

(One of my favourite pictures is "The Bookworm".)

Edit: Have you been to the Dulwich Picture Gallery? It's a little way out from the centre of London (bus no 12 goes there from Oxford Street, and there's a nice walk through the park to get to it), but well worth while. It's small and manageable, and has a restaurant. The architecture is worth checking out. Some wonderful exhibitions have been Shakespeare's Theatre; Arthur Rackham; Beatrix Potter; Winslow Homer and many more. I recommend that, too.
