Are Liverpool's suburbs being left behind?

With all this Capital of Culture investment that's going on in the city, what's happening outside the city centre?

I would like to see all those boarded-up houses in Kensington flattened and turned into a park. Maybe they could clean up the canal, or tidy the streets up a bit?

I don't understand why they didn't tidy up the area near the airport, what sort of first impression is a visitor going to make to the city of culture.

The best way to start urban blight is to clear an area of a city and make a park! A bleak, windswept wasteland full of litter and dog excrement where normal people fear to go because of teenaged gangs.

It also lowers the population density so shops and other amenities close down and move elsewhere.

The best way to regenerate an area is to give people a reason to live, work and spend money there.

Unfortunately the blockheads in Liverpool City Council are knocking down attractive, well-built three- and four bedroomed Victorian houses on Edge Lane because some profiteering developer is telling them to! The owners are being bullied and harassed to get out.
