Gyms in Liverpool for students? or leisure centres? By for students, I mean CHEAP!?

I'm a student in Liverpool, so it needs to be cheap as possible.

I know my university provides sports facilities (I did cheerleading the year before last and karate this year).. but I don't think the people who run the sporting facilities of the university are particularly supportive of people with special needs.
I never told the teacher of either club what I had because they seemed to have a fairly poor attitude towards people with special needs... and the karate guy just seemed to have problems with people generally!

I'm willing to try anything, but my coordination isn't very good. (Mumtells me I was always clumsy doing sport at school).

I'm not too keen on showing off my body for swimming (I don't think it's particularly worth wearing a long-sleeved wetsuit in the pool XD), if that's any help.

I'd like lots of differnet facilities, for it to be easy to travel to (Ideally within walking distance.

I live by the Met Cathedral behind The Font on Arrad Street.

Hi there,
There is a very good gym (no pool!) on Victoria st in the city centre. It is owned by the council but it is very nice and spacious with plenty of eqipment. There is also a number of different classes for you to participate in. (if you wish!) The gym is not too expensive and I think you will pay less if you prove to them you are a student.

If you go on this website
http://www.liverpool.gov.uk and search for,
"Lifestyles Millenium" you should find all the information you need.

HI THERES A CENTRE CALLED GREENBANK SPORTS ACADEMY IT CATERS FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THEIR SITE IS www.greenbanksportsacademy.co.uk AM SURE IF U LOOK ON THE MERSEYTRAVEL SITE YOU CAN FIND A BUS ROUTE.

6 bus to Mc.Donald's at Edge Lane
Walk towards B & Q and the Cinema and you will find Total Fitness. They have a hydro pool steam rooms etc. I would not worry about how you look everyone is too busy with their own workouts to worry about you. However you will find members friendly and helpful if you need them. The Greenbank centre is I believe small. The Council runs many lesiure facilities
