Liverpool???

Hiya, I am making a documentary at university based upon Liverpool and its capital of culture status that it will receive next year. I am intending to look at how the funds have been spent and whether they have made Liverpool a better place.
I wanted to know of some poorer and more deprived areas of Liverpool, that have not benefited from the capital of culture regeneration work, as I want to look at how some areas remain poor and with a low standard of living, whilst the centre of the city has had money pumped into it to make it a better place.
Any information, or personal experiences would be fantastic. Many thanks, Hannah x

lol, thanks, thought there would be a few 'funny' answers, I am well aware that there are a number of deprived areas, I am however a new resident to the city and I am not fully aquainted with it yet.

People in Liverpool are fed up with the false stereotypical image the media rams down everyones throat. The result of that is people who have never been to the area making stupid remarks about the place.
Make a documentary about all the positive things about the city-it would then be original .There are no more poorer areas there than any other large city or town in the UK.

lol talk about spoilt for choice.

ey calm down calm down

It would be easier to find out who has benefited. Perhaps you could let the rest of us know

make a documentary about how the Liverpool people are classed as second class and the students have all the privileges, accommodation and turn the city into a bin with takeaway packaging strewn in the streets and graffiti and vandalism through drink and drugs. Only in university term time of course but it gives the rest of us a bad name

I think it's a good idea to do a project on the areas that haven't benefited form the capital of culture, so long as it's in context, the positives are taken into account also and hopefully maybe the poorer areas will benefit from it.

As far as I'm aware some of the poorer areas are Kensington, some areas of Toxteth, Anfield, Everton and the area where I live Stockbridge Village.

I can add a personal experience here, I love Liverpool, spend so much time in the centre as I work there and I am looking forward to 2008 and do feel it's a positive, however, I did register in the ballot for tickets for two major 08 events. I have an 08 card and I registered the day it was announced, so I know it wasn't first come first served, especially since they extended the time. They said they would take into account postcode and career etc when allocating tickets and said if you had an 08 card you had a better chance.

Well, the other day I found out I was unsuccessful for both and the only reason I can think of is because of my postcode. I love my hometown, always defending it and I spend a lot of time visiting the many sites and attractions and am a great appreciator and I do feel I should be able to experience these great events in my hometown, which I wanted to share with my boyfriend who isn't from the city.

Cannot name all areas but google scottie press, they have lot's of info back copies to. You may also be able to contact them online re ask questions etc,by e-mail. Hope this helps good luck.
