Beeen to Liverpool tonight..is there parts that have'nt been rebuilt?

since it was bombed in WW11 it looks like it Bootle,Dock area

Dreadful isn't it?. I used to go to Liverpool everyday and it depressed me.
Street after street of boarded up houses covered in graffiti. Litter and burnt out rubbish bins.
Terrible traffic problems due to crazy one way systems. This is the city of culture.
The only culture that Liverpool has is the mould growing on the rat infested hovels.

welcome to the european city of culture!

yes there is a lot of building work going on especially dock rd areas. you still have loads of old stuff too though, all the walks, museums cathedrals, old town ect, it will be fantastic though when finnished, superior large city, loads modern ammenities with tons of heritage, culture and charm too.

Liverpool was the second most heavily-bombed British city after London so of course there are little bits, particularly in the dock areas that became derelict and abandoned during the 1970s.

However, most damage and dereliction has been caused by pea-brained planners, idiotic policticians and rapacious property developers since the War rather than Hitler and his Luftwaffe!

What had managed to survive is now endangered by the greed of a new generaton of property developers, idiotic politicians (see the press for stories about the comprehensive cocking-up of the European Capital of Culture) and a lot of unsympathetic incomers, carpet-baggers and johnny-come-latelies (e.g., 'Rita K') who have had a sniff of easy money through property speculation and are intent upon taking over the place and changing it to suit them rather than those of us natives who have spent our lives here trying to improve the scandalously negative media image of the place.

For the moment we have more listed buildings than Bath and we have the largest group of listed buildings in Europe, that is until they are knocked down to make way for the lucrative building of "iconic" eyesores, that like their 1960s forerunners will have to be torn down again in twenty years!

Well, Liverpool was seriously damaged in the war and of course it took time to rebuild things and much fell derelict after this period too and there still are some run down areas like Charterm... mentioned, however again I feel he's another who either last visited the cityabout 20 years ago or only chooses to look at the run down areas, which most cities have.

If all Liverpool's buildings were either still run down or damaged then this wonderful city could hardly be called a World Heritage City now could it? Did you walk right past the gorgeuos architecture and historical buildings?

Also, Bootle is to the North, which has always been the more industrious, working class area, try visiting the Southern suburbs of Liverpool next time and be surprised by how qaint, green and beautiful many of these parts are.

Btw, if you were to visit again, we'd happily welcome you and I'm sure somebody would show you around our great heritage city!;)
