Google Earth images over Eire. What are the red areas east of Limerick made by? Google doesnt zoom in close en |
They could be poppy fields or red earth not surprised Google wouldn't want to get too close to Limerick, they'd probably steal the satellite. If you mean quite a bit east of Limerick - as in the orangey-red coloured pieces in the centre of the country, they are peat bogs. Those red areas are the peat bogs. They harvest them commercially. I've driven past them and it's a great site. They are probably the 257 acres of red mud hills of a by-product when alumina (fine white granular powder) is extracted from bauxite ore (coarse red earth) at The Aughinish Alumina plant, the largest of its kind in Europe, which is situated on the Shannon Estuary. Its all the blood flowing from stab city aka Limerick i googled it and it brought me back to this feckin question lol Yes, peat bogs - have a look at these mapped bog locations, they should coincide nicely with your google images. Blood!!!ha ha ha Limerick is Stab City!! |
