How do I find my Irish descendants?

May family came to the US from Limerick Ireland in the late 1800's and wanted to see I still have any currently living there.

First, go to a geneology site with the information of your relatives. Do you know exactly when they arrived, the names, where they came in, etc?

Once you do have that information, you can trace back to where they came from and there are usually church records that are kept in the town where your relatives lived. Those records are sometimes the only ones available.

If you type in geneology on google, and then specify your Irish roots too, you may get lucky and find others that could assist you.

do you mean ancestors?

Well hopefully if they are your descendants you already know your children, I hope. If you are looking for Irish relatives that may be harder, or descendants of your irish relatives.

take me magic shelaighle in your hand, kiss it and make a wish and all of the knowledge that is kelly green will be all over you.....erin go bragh....

This may sound strange but you should go there and ask around. My mom is Jamaican but her ancestors were mainly from Scotland. I think a town called Irvine. Anyhow she went there and coincidently started speaking to her distant relative, (she didn't know) telling him that she was on her way to Irvine. He had mentioned his family name and that he also came from there and there you have it, she got a whole lot of history from this conversation. You can also try finding Celtic games that take place in in city nears where you live. They have a lot of Irish history books, flyers, etc... and people who can help... Good Luck!

Don't you mean ancestors? To find your descendants you must first go make some!

Seriously, Ireland suffered more under England's oppression than Europe did under Hitler's reign. More Irish were displaced and killed by the English than Hitler did the Jews.

Many Irish were shipped like cattle to America only to find that they weren't welcome here, either.

I have an article from the early nineties describing how a "mass grave" containing over 4,000 bodies of Irish immigrants was discovered off the coast of Boston.

If you weren't accepted into the country, the ship's captain would dump you out into the bay or on one of the islands in the harbor.

During England's reign of terror, Irish Children were beat for using the language of the land (Gaelic) and not English (kind of sounds like the way the Hispanic kids used to be treated here in California.

For a good genealogy lead, though. I suggest joining some of the groups at USGENWEB. It's been pretty helpful to me. I try to avoid Genealogy.com. It's way overpriced and once you join, all you get is more links that promise to "sell" you more info.. usually this info is useless.
Good Luck.

I am a descendant of Irish blood. But I am black, how did i found out of my ancestors? first my last name and then traced it to the one who came to my country and had relationship with my great great great grand mother, which dated as far back as 1800. though I am black, i know now that i do have both Irish and Scottish blood in me. go to www.bbc.co.uk/familytree. surely, you might get some of your ancestors who are still living. try it. never give up.
GOOD LUCK.
