Is Leeds a good place to live? |
Hey all, I'm from Edinburgh and have been considering moving to Leeds, my fiance is from Leeds but has been living in Edinburgh for the past 7 years so things may have changed since then. We went to visit his family a few months back but it was just for a few days and I loved it there but didn't really get to see much. Can anyone give me any advice to help make our decision please? A lot of things have changed in the past 7 years! Phew, didn't want to offend anyone! Leeds is amazing , my brother went tot uni there for three years and i loved going on nights out with him, its just the coolest, trendiest most happening place in the world!! waaay better than my uni, my uni dont even have a 24/hr supermarket! I would guess its the same as any other city in the UK - great in parts, not so good in others. House prices are a good representative of how an area is - and there is a site which I can't remember the name of (Up My Street or something like that) where you can check crime, schools, transport etc etc on line. Good luck. youve just answered your own question.....you didnt see much, thats because theres nothing to see,its a dump, stop in edinburgh...its a lot nicer. YOU might like Halifax better or you could move to africa! My son moved to Leeds from the Isle of Wight 4 years ago. I love it up there when I go to visit. As with most cities there are areas which are not very nice but the small parts on the outskirts are beautiful. The shopping centre is great and we went into the city at night for a Thia meal and it was wonderful. I have never seen a city other than London which is so busy at night. For me the best part was that one minute you are within the city and the next you are in the most beautiful country side I have ever seen. There is nothing like a walk in the Dales or on the Moors. I was brought up in Leeds, quite a few years ago, but it has always been very good for shopping, night life, buildings of interest, pop concerts, art galleries, classical music concerts etc YES, dont know probably big city never been there though I visited Leeds a few years ago and thought it was a nice place. If I were to live in the UK, it would be one of the places I would consider. It depends what you want from leeds. It is good in the sense that theres the hustle and bustle, plenty of nightlife, restuarants cinemas shops etc, and nice surrounding areas, with good public transport into the city centre for miles around. If you want to live in the centre then prices are high (which is expected) but most do not seem to be attractive. Student area is more headingley if either are students Absolutely fabulous place to live. I was lucky enough to be born and raised there but even luckier to now be living in one of the only cities that outshines Leeds, Barcelona!! a beautiful place as others have said, you have the best of both worlds in your reach City and lovely rustic countryside ive been living in leeds ever since i was born and it has changed alot and i think its getting better especially with all the hotels and apartments being built....i loove it!! |
