What's a city/place half way between Cambridge and Leeds?

I'd like to know - one geographically and one travel time wise (probably via trains).
Thanks.

Newark-on-Trent is the town midway on your trip.

By train this not an easy journey. There is no direct route. A change of trains in Peterborough will be necessary and probably another change at Doncaster or York. Remember that there are over 20 seperate companies running the trains and your route will require at least 3 of them. They do not talk to each other when deciding timetables. I doubt there will be a convenient connection.

Time taken ? by train your guess is as good as mine.

If time is critical A hire car might be an option it's 146 miles and the AA claims 2 hours and 42 minutes under average driving conditions.
.
alternatively you could try a coach. Check out National Express Coaches.
