Is Leeds West Yorkshire really a bad place for crime we have had our car broken into twice since moving here?

It depends in which part of Leeds you live in, Leeds is a very trendy up and coming place to live, but you get good and bad parts in any town or city!

I never had any problems there - suppose it depends which bit you are in - and what kind of car you've got.

Unfortunately there are very few crime free areas in the UK any more. :(

i don't live there but it sounds like it, maybe if u didn't leave anything on display it might not get broken into

Yes as above it depends on where you park it!
We lived there for 12 years and had no problems where we were, but he police used to regularly set up cameras and surveillance at my place of work as the car parks nearby were notorious for car crime!
I do remember one of them stating that Leeds was one of the crime capitols of europe.
Do not think all people in Leeds are awful, they are some of the nicest people you can meet, you have just become a victim of a low life and they are everywhere.

depends where you are. chapeltown and seacroft are the worst places.

same as previous replies really... I've lived in Leeds 33 years and my Dad has had his car stolen once 2 years ago outside his business. It was recovered untouched and had only been used as a "taxi". We've never had any other problems (burglary, muggings etc) touch wood! It does depend whereabouts in Leeds you are... Burley, Headingley, Seacroft and Halton are all very high risk areas.

No, not all parts of Leeds are rough.
I use to live in Leeds, in Colton, which was fairly safe there a few years back. Never had any troubles.
Until I moved to Seacroft! I had my car stolen 4 times, my front house window broken twice and someone even nicked my friends gym trampoline I put in my garden for her child to bounce on, and the cheek of it all was that when it was stolen the back door was open and we was in the house. Cheeky sods! Anyway it is pretty bad for crime in the ''council'' areas. Halton Moor, Seacroft, Gipton, Chapel Town and Chapel Allerton, Harehills.
Then again you can argue that there isn't a safe city in England anymore, there is crime and trouble wherever you go.
I think overall that Manchester has higher crime rate than Leeds, as do a few other cities.
