Moving to Leeds from Australia?

We may be moving to Leeds from Melbourne with our 2 small children. Which are the best areas to live that are close to the city, have good primary schools, good public transport and are family friendly? Thanks!

Wow, those responses are really depressing...well, it may be Leeds, Glasgow or Edinburgh - clearly Leeds is a no-go?? Also it is only for 2 years and then back to sunny Oz so I'm not too worried :)

I can only assume that you have never been there.

It must be financial. If so, I hope its really big bucks.

Leeds is far better than Glasgow or Edinburgh.
There is some rough parts in Leeds - Gipton, Seacroft etc.
Try and get to Kirkstall, a very nice area to live in.
Or try any city in Cornwall. Trust me though Scotland is no better than Leeds, if not worse! Report It

I would stay in Melbourne unless it is absolutely essential that you go to Leeds. There are a lot nicer places to live in England. Australia is much nicer. (Robbie's answer above is a good one - you would have to be out of your mind to move to Leeds from Melbourne)

Edinburgh is really nice!
