I have a day off work, it's bouncing down with rain and I want to go out...?

Any ideas on where (around Yorkshire) I can go? Thanks.

Thanks for all the suggestions, have done the White Rose and York over the past couple of days... Maybe the museum will win over.
I agree with the comments on water, although at the moment, my back garden looks like Waterloo Lake.

I don't know what to suggest, I am stuck in the same boat as you. I am in Yorkshire on holiday from Kent, and it is teaming it down with rain out there. I have been out in it for the last few days as it is, and have been getting soaked! I could really do with a suggestion or two also of where to go for the day to avoid this weather!!

Pub sounds ideal, or a shopping centre.

I love the rain! I don't live in Yorkshire so can't suggest anywhere but would like a day off to see it. LOL

buy a magazine and take it to a cosy pub. go to a cafe that has books. local library. do some volunteer work. hop on a train or bus and get off at a stop you don't usually get off at ( or just stay on and watch the world go by). get dressed for the rain,...go for a walk...come home and dry off and warm up. go shopping for a bunch of ingredients you wouldn't normally eat and spend the day cooking.

ive got kids...can you tell i'd love to have a day off...even if it was raining...

ive got a days holiday today 2 and its pouring down, but im just going to grin and bear it and get wet lol, dunno where you could go in yorkshire though sorry

Listen to blooming & flying....sounds lovely sitting in the pub.

But, you can't plan your life avoiding the rain - living in the uk.

I'd take my Kayak out if I was in the UK today.

how about the national museum of television in bradford its only a train journey away

You could go to the White Rose Centre and run up a huge credit card bill......Hop a train to York and visit 'Yorvik' the Viking Centre.....I would though suggest that you look in Yellow Pages under 'Entertainments' and find something that really appeals to you. Failing that there is always the library and a nice coffee bar where you can sit and people watch...(or eye up potential partners). Hope you can find something really stimulating.
Best wishes, Mike.
PS peoples attitude to rain can differ...I just think it is water to drink...not something that stops me doing what I want to do.

Just look out of your window and marvel at how wonderful Leeds looks even when it's raining.

I would rather be out in the rain than looking at it through the window,as to where to go in Yorkshire, are you kidding, you are so spoilt for choice.

If you're into art the Leeds art gallery is worth a visit, I like the indoor market for browsing, Granary Wharf also. Or put on a waterproof coat and go to Otley its nice by the river, If you have a car and can face an hour drive I like Skipton castle and the hot Pork pies from stamforths (on the corner opposite the castle pub) make the trip even more worth while. Not sure if it is running this time of year or day of the week but there's a steam railway near Skipton

Come to Oxfordshire - its lovely and sunny here!! Wish I had the day off - its sooooo hot in here!

get yourself to the yorkshire sculpture park. there is a brilliant indoor installation by andy goldsworthy on at the moment. there is a bus from the bus station, its a bit of a hike on the bus tho. car drivers its just off the M1.

food is great there as well, really nice cafe. obviously its better in nice weather as many sculptures are outside but it has a couple of indoor galleries . its free what are you waiting for.
