Why doesn't Lebanon and Syria merge together to form a bigger , stronger country against Israel?

The cultures and poltics are too diffrent and Syria will not allow Lebanon to rule. The lebanese hate the syrians even shiat lebanese hate syria but pretend to like them for miltary benifits. Syria and Egypt tried it before they formed an Arab republic it didnt last very long. And even if Syria merged with lebanon we cant face Isreal. Israel has nuclear weapons so all it takes for israel to destroy both lebanon and syria is one bomb, to destroy Israel all Arabs should merge and share the responsibilty and they should work on stopping the American support for the israelis without The States Isreal=Nothing.

Because the Syrians have totally bullied the Lebanese, and the Lebanese don't want anything to do with them anymore!

Because the demographics of Lebanon are too different and diverse for that to result in anything peacefully, and because not everyone in the middle east wants to murder anyone who is affiliated with Israel.

Because that is what Syria should want. To have Lebanon with them.....but not as an allie....but as another province.
Lebanon suffered them for almost 30 years......and now you are asking why Lebanon doesnt merge them?
Lebanon already had enough from Syria.......doesnt need Syria inside it again.

Because Syria occupied lebanon for over 20 years and did not attempt to make it a fair merge.
Instead, it exploited and terrorized the lebanese big time: kidnapping, killing, stealing ( they are still holding political prisoners that they are refusing to release).... They also milked us and drained us financially to the last penny.

Also we might be neighbours but we are 2 different cultures and 2 different political regimes. We aspire at building a democratic country and don't agree with their dictatorship style leadership.

Because in case u haven't noticed Lebanon is a country on its own, stronger than all the other arab countries due to the strength of its citizens.
And Syria doesn't really want to fight isreal or else it would have fought for the Goulan. the only thing it wants is for Leanon to stay ruined, so it will benefit economically, in tourism and in so many other areas.....
but what no one knows is that Lebanon has a strong will that will overcome this phase and stand on its feet again.
Besides why does everyone want from Lebanon to fight isreal, while most of the arab countries has peace agreements with isreal and they r protecing their countries and their people,
so again why Lebanon has to always be in the front rows of the fight..........????????????

They tried, the Syrian leader were to cruel to the Lebanese and won't work now, however in ancient history it was all once Syria from Turkey to Jordan and from Palestine to Iraq, like Nassar suggested a pan-arab nation would be the best way to defend our way of life. Unfortunately we kind of have a totalitarian system in Syria at the moment.

LEAVE US ALONE WE DONT WANT TO BE WITH SYRIA WE ARE LEBANESE AND LEBANON OUR COUNTRY AND WE DONT WANT NEITHER SYRIA NOR IRAN AND IF U WANT TO FIGHT ISREAL TELL THIS TO UR PRESIDENT IN IRAN AND LET HIM FIGHT IT ALONE WITH HIS ALLY IN SYRIA TO FIGHT ISREAL, ENOUGH WHAT UR MILITIA HAVE DONE IN SOUTH.
WE NEED PEACE TO LEBANON.

Because that will benefit Syria strategically & economically but rob the Lebanese of their independance as well as their unique cultural identity ..
Look at the Basques in Spain ..they have been fighting the Spanish for ages to gain their independance & reclaim their cultural identity.
Closer to home , the Kurds ...
