What's your favorite book?

Mine is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
and i like Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt.

Ive been looking lately for a nice book that takes place in Palestine or Lebanon etc. I'm reading a book from syria, its pretty good so far. I also read Bombay time and the space between us which took place in india. So can u guys think of anybooks that you think an 18 yr old would enjoy. i prefer a story over just an 'information' book. :P

actually lolita, i read the kite runner- twice it was really good. did you read a thousand splendid suns? it by the same author and came out last year. it was good too.

One that takes place in Palestine and Lebanon is "Gate of the Sun" by Elias Khoury. I'm not sure it's what you're looking for as it is more of a tragedy with a lot of irony but the stories are excellent

You may like Life of Pi by Yann Martel. It's about an Indian boy lost at sea in a boat with a zebra, hyenna and tiger. Very cool plot twist.

I like Tuck Everlasting.Because it really intresting how Jessie drinks the water from the earth, hidden under the pepples.Thats why it's called Tuck (Jessie's dad)Everlasting.

"Josey Wales" and "The Education of Little Tree", both by Forrest Carter.

I suggest " The Rock of Tanios" By Amin Maalouf.

Amin Maalouf received a prize for it ( prix Goncourt in France)
It's very well written, one of these stories that you just have to keep reading but also in the background is a depiction of what Lebanon was like in the past century.
I read it in french ( Maalouf writes in French) I hope that the translation is as good.
