If the US gave Lebanon the same amount of $$ and great benefits as she does Israel,?

Thank you for your honesty. I agree that we the US, by not stopping Israel from bombing the infrastructure of Lebanon only enabled HNasrallah and the other stooges of Iran and Syria. We will never admit it though.

I don't know if I speak for myself or the majority of the Lebanese, but my problem with the U.S. is not a financial one.
One of many examples: last year, as we were starting to look like we were heading towards self sufficiency, you people decide (through Israel) to decimate the country on our head: infrastructure, economy and all (and not talking about the dead).

This exercise cost us billions, and took us back an average of 10 -15 years.
Had you not done that, we wouldn't be in need of charity today.

So basically, we don't care what the U.S. gives Israel what we want is for Lebanon to be allowed to reach its potential.

Edit: I am in no way trying to shift the blame from our poor leadership in the past 2 or 3 years (or lack of it nowadays). But in our defence, we are a small country, emerging from a civil war followed by years of Syrian very heavy handed occupation.

I hardly call 250 millions plenty, America's latest venture or failed attempt at destroying Hezbollah cost Lebanon close to 12 billion dollars.

I am a supporter of the party trying to disarm Hizbollah, but in all fairness they never pointed a gun to the inside. It was the U.S. backed Israel that did the destroying.

Even the civil war, by his own admittance, was the brain child of Henry Kissinger, your then foreign affairs, and yet another U.S. failed attempt at giving Lebanon to the palestinians.

This is very short sighted. the U.S, has an appalling track of foreign policies. name one country, on any continent you went into and not left destruction and mayhem behind. so let me rephrase this: " keep out of our affairs and we won't need your charity aid".

Yes Starfish , if the US was to use its' influence in a balanced way & not favour Israel over its' neighbours but promote cooperation & development just maybe there would be more internal unity in both Lebanon & Israel.

That can start with a change of public opinion over there ...maybe if the average American became more aware of the true picture there wouldn't be this constant biased support of Israel .

The US will not give money to Lebanon. The US is not in the business of handing money.

This has nothing to do with money. Israel, Egypt, Palestine,etc, etc. are all benefactors of U.S. aide. If Lebanon took control of their country instead of allowing terrorists regimes to handle the reigns, then Lebanon would be more stable and secure. I view Lebanon as weak country in the Middle East, due to Lebanon's lack of taking control and being able to elect a president and stand up to the Arab countrys that are bringing it down. Blaming Israel for your existence and failure is like saying Israel is G-d.
