What do you consider more important ?

the relation that binds Lebanon to the Occidental countries (especially France which is known as Lebanon's Greater Sister) or the relation that binds Lebanon to the Arab world (especiallay Syria which is also called by others Lebanon's greater sister)??

Fanano.......nobody is denying anything here.. the question was about Lebanon and the relations with Occidental countries or with Arabs ones, and we are replying about it.

About the question I have to say, that both had influenced on lebanese modern culture. That diversification is what makes Lebanon as much special.
As another answerers said, Lebanon is UNIQUE.

Syria cant be considered a "greater sister".......it is the cruel "stepmother" in some case. Stealing the resources...destroying the villages...taking what is lebanese citizens's properties, and what is much worse..........still believing, after many years that Lebanon is a piece of their country. They cant accept the truth that Lebanon is sovereing.

By other side...France.. they occupied many years the country, to "protect" it, and the french culture can be seen everywhere nowadays. One of the main is the language. French is the 2nd lang in Lebanon.
At least France understood and made Lebanon a free country.
So.....for me is more important the relation with it

Although all that........I believe that no country has the right to rules or obliges another country to live or be as they are.
Syria has to accept that Lebanon is free..........and that lebaneses can decide for their own what is the best for them......but has to stop pressing and trying to anex Lebanon back.
I believe in the free determination of the people (nations)...thing that some countries (as Syria) dont even know what ir means.

it's good to see another lebanese on YA ;) well as a lebanese living in LEBANON i think that syria has *** lebanon enough so defenitely we prefer peace makers like France & other peaceful countries.. syria is pulling lebanon back & is definitely not it's sister cz sisters don't rape sisters !!! Lebanon is unique ! Because of its' historical ties to nations far & wide & it's location , it straddles both east & west yet retains its' own unique flavour..
It's cultural identity is middle eastern yet the other influences over the years have enriched it to the point that others covet its blended qualities..
That's what makes it so desirable... that's what makes it the jewel in the crown ...that's why we love it so much !

Well, no one person can argue with the fact that Lebanon has been influence by many in Arab world, and that cannot be denied. Whether it's by Syria, Iran, or saudi arabia, Lebanon has been a cosmopolitan country, representing all those countries. However, what is more important is not what links lebanon to other countries but what binds it to itself. Lebanon is unique, as was stated by another user, and that a fact. So, the most important thing to lebanon is its own people.

Lebanon you are Middle Eastern Arabs consisting of Muslims & Christians and not French, face it.
Why deny such an amazing origin?

the relation that binds Lebanon to the Occidental countries of course, because lebanese is so open and our lives is so close to europe when in other arabs places women cant drive even a car or take a good position in a work, besides that we have democracy and we are paying blood for that democracy when arabes don鈥檛 care about it all what they cares about is food and fancy cars and power and they dont dare to ask for that democracy, and when you have to learn you have ro learn from the best and we are the best in the middle east trying to stay by keeping the best relation with the occident .
BTW all the Arabs are watching us dying and no one cares, but Lebanon will always be the best and we will soon replay the game.
N.B: Sister is an emotional world please dont use it because lebanon does not have any sister he is unique and all the others are neighbors only neighbors including syria, israel paris etc...

all countries have their own secret agenda in Lebanon .. we just want to be left alone and have normal relationships with everyone ...

both are "sisters" and both want a piece of that cake but at least France hasn't killed people in Lebanon and commited terrorism and assassined and kidnapped and enjailed many lebanese just bcz they can! France gave us our law and prepared us to be a free and independant country although they spread their reign here but since they respect the human rights and are a cvilized country and respect democracy, their impact is a hundred thousand million times better than Syrian's, in fact Syria has no good effect at ALL!!! so the most important here is to let us lebanese decide our own fate and take actions WITHOUT fraternal "advice"!!!
