Has anyone stayed at the Four Queens hotel in Las Vegas recently?

We will be going to Las Vegas in June. This will be our 4th trip to Vegas we've always stayed on the strip. Last time we went we enjoyed the Fremont area so much we'd like to stay there this time. We were thinking of the Four Queens, Plaza, Golden Nugget. Can anyone give us good suggestions or experiences they've had? We'd really appreciate it. We'll be traveling with another couple all in our 40's. We also like to dance so any suggestions for clubs in our age group would be wonderful. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer.

We did not stay at the Four Queens but we were in Las Vegas twice last year(55 nights). We really enjoy downtown, we were at Main Street Station 15 nights and the El Cortez for 6.

We usually go over and play at the Four Queens at least some of the time. I think the Four Queens is a nice hotel, the rooms are nice and clean, nothing opulent of course, the casino is not old and rundown(IMO) like a few of the downtown casinos(vegas club/Fitzgeralds/El Cortez/Plaza/Golden Gate). The lobby at the 4Q is gorgeous.

The 4Q is one of the few places left you can play single deck 3/2 blackjack, and they have some of the best low limit video poker to be found in LV 9/6 JOB at the nickel level and not just one or two machines they have 20(8 near keno & 12 near the Chicago Brew Co)

If I were to rank the downtown hotels the Four Queens would be #3 behind the Golden Nugget and Main Street Station.

The rooms at the GN are very nice, the pool is awesome, the restaurants are great(but expensive). But, they have removed all of their good video poker and even when they had playable games I always felt like I was playing in a phone booth.

We might be a little biased though because MSS is our favorite place to stay/play/eat.

They are so friendly and take such good care of us that it's difficult not to love the place...

We like this one

If you're looking for great places to eat
#1 - Pullman Grille - Main Street Station
#2 - Roberta's - El Cortez
#3 - Hugo's Cellar
#4 - Binion's Steakhouse

Bargain eats
.99c shrimp cocktail - Golden Gate
graveyard specials - California
$7 prime rib dinner - Triple 7 - MSS >We ate here 7 or 8 times on the last trip(December/January)

The best buffet downtown and the best value buffet in all of LV(IMO) is Main Street Station...If you like seafood, try the Fremont Seafood Buffet on Sun/Tue/Fri nights....

If you like to use coupons - pick up a free set of FSE coupons at their office located at 425 Fremont Street, 2nd floor of the parking garage next to Walgreens. You get $10 free play coupons and 2-4-1 buffet coupons, it's a heck of a deal. Just show an out of state ID and get one for everybody.

More coupons - not free, but worth every penny(IMO)

I stayed there. It is right on Fremont, there are two towers. The rooms are nice, clean. The casino is old, not as clean as others. Parking can be a problem at times, but you have in/out privilege. Restaurants are just okay. Of course, the price was not bad, and in the lobby going out the door to Fremont, you can get last minute show tickets for cheap.

I'd go again. It's fine.

I am sure the Golden Nugget is the best of the three...

The only redeeming quality about this OUTDATED RELIC of a hotel is its steakhouse "Hugo's Cellar! Still a fantastic restaurant.
It is a toilet of a casino as is most of downtown. I worked down at the fitzgerald's next door for a few years in the early 90's and I was in the Four Queens just a few months back.
I was a amazed how old it seemed inside. And there was absolutely NO energy from the geriatric crowd.
Don't be cheap...spend a little and really enjoy Vegas.
