What is going on in Las Vegas March 10 to 13...all hotels expensive or sold out? |
I am checking Southwest packages for a client and find things really expensive or sold out. Is there a major event going on that I don't know about? Conventions!!!!!!!!!!! Live here. NCAA Tournament, huge betting weekend for sports betters, 2nd only to the SuperBowl Actually there are several conventions including Showest (big entertainment industry confab), IBM, a car wash operator group, etc. all of which have 6-10,000 each along with numerous others going on. There's also a 52,000 person convention wrapping on 3/9 and there's undoubtedly some folks staying over a day or two for vacation after. The web site for the ConExpo convention says something like 125,000 people will be attending. (March 11-15) The hotels can pretty much charge what they want since most of it will be put on peoples expense accounts. It does screw everybody else who's going to Vegas too. That would be the college shindig known as Spring Break.... March Madness I believe. College basketball is big for betting. Many conventions!! Con Ag is coming to town and it is a HUGE show!! March Madness is at the end of the basketball finals. march madness baby....very busy time... If you goto www.tripadvisor.com and search Las Vegas and goto their forums there are lots of people on their with some great advice. Usually you will get the best price going through the hotels ... Activites & Attractions ... its right over the road ..100 yards max ...most helicopter rides from Vegas go to the west rim and go over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam and land inside the Canyon by the Colarado river.Trip time 3 -4 hours.Most bus rides go to the South Rim... |
