Was Burgos Spain named after Abner de Burgos? |
I was reading an interesting answer in someone's question and had Abner de Burgos. Yes Abner of Burgos ([ca. 1270-[ca. 1347, or a little later) was a Jewish philosopher, a convert to Christianity and polemical writer against his former religion. Known after his conversion as Alfonso of Valladolid.and Burgos in Spain was named after him. It appears like Burgos was named after Abner de Burgos... I was under the impression that Abner de Burgos might have been the reason it was name Burgos in Spain. I am not sure but it seem correct. |
