What do Koreans think about foreign professors?

This question is for Koreans.

I went to one of the major universities in Seoul and I've taken 4 or 5 courses instructed by foreign professors(mostly Americans).

I don't think we(Korean students) have that many general opinions or stereotypes on foreign professors. They vary!!

Off the top of my head, foreign professors tend to value class participation(such as engaging in class discussion) more than Korean ones. They tend to require more hassling homework or reading assignments. But some of the professors were very generous and easy-A givers lol.
So it really depends...

While university professors are more respected, some Koreans think foreign ESL Hagwon teachers are losers who were not able to find decent jobs back home and end up teaching their native language in a foreign country.
