Should I buy a suit in the U.S. or in South Korea? |
I'm going to South Korea to teach English. I don't have any decent suits, so I'm wondering whether it's better to buy them in the U.S. or in South Korea. It really depends on what you are looking for I heard that custom tailoring is very inexpensive in Korea. So I would get a suit there. They'll carry the same brands as in the U.S. but you can have it fit for much less. I think you should get one in the U.S. before coming to Korea and then after you get settled in Korea you can get additional nice suits tailor made at inexpensive prices ($150-$300). Get all your clothes in America. Honest, the clothes from america is way better in quality and look, why else would most of the clothes in korea come from america (and lots of people always try to get clothes from america). Also, the biggest reason you should buy your suit in america is that clothes in korea are wayyyy expensive. Just to get a decent skirt, I paid $60! in america it would probably have just cost about $30. When I went shopping in korea, i never bought any clothes. you should also know, if you wear XL size, you will have a hard time finding that in Korea. Buy your clothes here in the US, it will be easier and cheaper. But dont be scared to shop in Korea, you will love it over there, have a great time. The advice given here is kind of jumbled up. In general, name brand clothes in Korea are more expensive. But if you're buying a suit for work, the name on it doesn't matter, the quality and fit does. In Korea I got a tailored 3 piece suit and shirt for under $250. In the US it'd be nearly impossible to match that. For a lot of clothes(especially if you like levi's) I'd recommend buying them in the US, but for a nice tailored suit I'd definatly go with Korea. the price is relatively cheaper in South Korea than US. the style and quality depends on which brand you buy it from. Since you might have trouble with finding the right length and size, I would say US. very early in my education, i learned if you ever encounter an america vs. asia question, take america. im sure the azn suits smell like cigarette smoke anyways ^_^ The communication is difficult, but they will show you all types of fabric and measure you on the spot for a pretty nice suit that is a fraction of the price in the US. i lived in korea for a year while in the us army. if i was you i get one in korea. i didn't get one made(im a female) but some friends of mine got some, they came out great. they custom make them for u, they take ur measurments, u get to pick out the collor u want and what kinda of material. and it is a lot cheaper than in the us. dont worry about not knowing korean, most koreans know a little of english. if u get stuck just point to the thing u want, and "talk" with ur hands |
