Do Koreans put too much emphasis on learning English?

English is a very important language. An international language everyone speak is a very good thing. Kudos to Koreans.

i think out of all asians koreans are by far the worst at english

english is an internation language, and it is very useful to be able to speak it. but i think in korea, there are more japanese learners than english learners.

It's their tendency to be fluent before even saying anything in a foreign language, and the recognition of the significance role English has got nowadays.

Koreans are quite bashful when it comes to the individual capabilities and qualifications, contrary to the national etc.

It depends on their background and financial status. Yes if they live in Seoul, especially in the Gangnam, Jamsil, Apkujeong or Bundang areas they've got the cash to study their brains out. If they are on the north side of Seoul or the surrounding provincial areas and don't have the cash to do it they will concentrate more on a professional field t study with English as a second concern. I live in Syracuse NY now, and there is a division one school, Syracuse University here. I go out to the bars sometimes and meet some Korean exchange students. Almost all of them are from Gangnam with a few from Bundang and Busan. When I taught in Gangnam my students always did the H.W., but when I taught in Ansan, they were 50/50 with that.
