Korean Won?

I have a note for 1,000 Korean Won. How much is that in American Dollars? I can't find a converter that I can understand! (Math was NEVER my strong point!!)
Thanks!

Keep it. They have beautiful currency, don't they? 1000 won is probably worth only a dollar or so but look at how pretty it is. When I was there in 1974 it was worth $2. It was printed in France and was a lovely example of fine Korean artwork. Today, it's probably worth half that but so what? Go down to Office Depot, spend a dollar on a cheap frame and hang it on the wall. It's a work of art.

Roughly about a dollar. I'm sure someone will come behind me and give you a more exact exchange rate if you need it.

About a dollar. It goes up and down. Last time i checked (about a year ago) it was about 1.2 dollars. The year before that it was about .90 dollars.

Just in case: 1dollar is about 1,000 won.
20cents (.20 dollars) is about 200 won.

Its not always 1 dollar is 1,000 won but i just like to estimate it like that. Hoped it help :]

I just telephoned Community Bank where I work and live.

According to Community Bank, the exchange rate for today (25 January) is 925 Won per Dollar.

That would bring your W1,000 to be priced o/a $1.08.

However, should you take it to another "facility" off-post, one of the Ajumas would probably give you a few cents more. She would probably give you the cents back in Korean coin, since they usually don't bother with American coins.

Be aware that Ajumas will round-down amounts to their advantage. They probably wouldn't waste their time with just one Dollar being exchanged.

To add to what LIK said, the standard where I am is for the ladies downtown to add 5 won to whatever the bank says.
Also, if you do large sums in hundreds (like for rent) you can usually get a couple of extra won in your favor.

To get a rough figure, just drop the last 3 zeroes, anytime when you're converting from Korean Won to US Dollars.

The exact figure, as of today:

1,000.00 KRW = 1.05646 USD

1000 won is $1.06 as of now

A month ago it was $1.10

it fluctuates because American dollar's not very stable at the moment.

about a dollar.
