I'm visiting Korea for 1 month where can I sleep? |
I'm going to Korea this summer and I'm staying for app 1 month. I don't have enough money to say in a hotel or even a motel for 30 days. I'm 19. Where's the cheapest place that I can sleep in Seoul? Any cheap hostels? I myself am Korean. There are several youth and exchange hostels in the Jongro and Gangnam areas. You can also stay at a "Goshiwon." This is a super small room, yet furnished and very quiet. It costs between 250 to 350 dollars a month. They are located everywhere around Seoul, and other large cities. Many university students stay there to study. You can just get into a taxi there and say goshiwon and they will take you to one. By the way you are 19, so it is highly illegal for you to tutor or teach English unless you are a Korean citizen who is enrolled in a Korean university. You have to have at least a bachleors degree to teach. If you are caught teaching English illegally you could be jailed and deported. There are a lot of cheap motels like under 25 bux a night but they can seem a bit shoddy. If you can find a place to do a homestay that'd be fantastic as you can learn more about their culture by living close with Koreans. The culture there is very different from where we are, the norms and daily things that differ. Anyways if you find one of those community boards(if you can read korean but I heard there's also community board for foreigners) ask around, I lived there for like 15 years but I can't tell you off heart, and I don't think anyone can, because that nation changes fast. You can stay for free at certain Buddhist temples, check out this link for more info. Enjoy your trip! Well in the summer there are thousands and thousands of motels. And hostels can be really cheap on the outskirts of Downtown area. |
