Should the world refer to the Sea of Japan by a different name?

What would an acceptable international name be? Obviously calling it the East Sea would not work because it is too localized a name.
Does a change in name change anything else about it? Would we also have to change the names of the hemispheres, the Middle East, and the Far East to get them away from a Eurocentric perspective as well?

But why should it be Korea Sea? Obviously Japan is the dominant one between the two. Its defensive military is stronger than the ROKs offensive one. Korea did not kick Japan off the peninsula in 1945, the US did. Actually,Japanese officials were kept in place for quite some time due to lack of qualified Korean replacements.
What is the compromise on the name?

Name means a lot if not everything.

Maybe, Far East Sea.

Sea of Japan sounds unfair and stupid. Japan does not own it. You want to change Pacific Ocean to East Sea of Japan?

Korea sea.

Alot of my adult Korean students did not care for Japan. This was also a huge reason why. Especially since the island of Dokdo has been argued over between Japan and Korea for years. Korea actually has coast guard surrounding the island to make sure Japan doesn't try to take it from them. Japan invaded Korea and it wasn't until 1945 that Korea finally kicked them out. (No offense to Japanese people) By the way most of the young Koreans spell their country "Corea" because they hate the fact that the J in Japan comes before the K.

hm, 鞖鸽霃?Ulleungdo as well as 霃呺弰 Dokdo is in the 霃欗暣 (Dong-heh / East Sea).. I'm not saying the name should be changed to 'Korea Sea', but it shouldn't remain as the 'Sea of Japan' either - just doesn't seem fair.
I recently had a conversation with a relative from Korea who's been studying in the US for a while, and he referred to the Middle East as the 'Mid West'. I was obviously confused at first and thought he was referring to the 'Midwest' in the US.. We came to the understanding that he was talking from a Korean point of view.
Anyway, I heard from a teacher in school once that a Westerner asked a 'Japanese' person what the name of the sea was, and the Japanese person obviously answered the 'Sea of Japan'...

Just Gaya.

i think that the name should be changed.
i mean its right in the middle of korea and japan
so why cant it be korean sea? why sea of japan only?
and exactly what sky high said, what if pacific ocean was something else? what he said 'east sea of japan'

I think it should stay "Sea of Japan."
