Have you ever had a bad flight to/from Korea?

I've only made the trip once, in economy on Delta/Korean Air, and it was a good trip. A lot of leg room, movies in every seat back, great service, etc. . .
My very tall friend is coming for a visit, and Delta is not the cheapest fare. Has anyone flown with United or US Airways and had a good or bad experience? He doesn't want to save a little money and be crammed like a sardine for the entire journey.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Both Korean and Asiana Airlines have excellent service. They also have continuous special deals on roundtrip tickets to and from major hubs in the U.S.

For example, right now, Asiana is offering roundtrip from San Fran. to Incheon for $686. Korean Air is offering LA to Tokyo for $858.

All Nippon Airlines, a Japanese airline, is pretty cheap, but the seats are a bit cramped. The service was awesome, though. You might have to book through a travel agent if you're going from U.S. to Asia.

I found a really great travel agent in Itaewon. She's found me some of the cheapest deals to Japan and the states. Message me if you want her contact info.

The very best economy class travel in both service and all around comfort is hands down Singapore Airlines. Fantastic service, plenty of legroom, delicious food, and very clean. Once in a blue moon, you can catch a really cheap ticket with them on expedia or kayak. If you see it, grab it up! It's SO worth it.

A few years ago I had an extremely bad flight between South Korea and the United States;

A mother let her baby continually cry almost the entire flight. (The "soiled" diapers didn't help matters, either)

I will probably receive some "thumbs-down" about my advice to you, but will give it anyway.

When your friend checks-in for his/her flight, have them ask the check-in counter representative for a seat away from any infants.

Although this may seem somewhat callous (or heartless), somebody will always be stuck next to a crying infant; you can do what you can to avoid "somebody" being you.

ok, so here is who NOT to fly:

Northwest has it's hub in Tokyo, so it comes from Detroit, Minneapolis or New York, via Continental Air, and changes planes in Narita. (tokyo)
The flight from the states to Tokyo will be AWFUL. extremely crammed in, terrrible food every time, extremely un happy stewarts/stewardesses, etc.
Then, when you get to Tokyo, like magic, the plane will be newer, people very courteous and happy, food better, etc. in Tokyo, you will even get your own little t.v. in the seatrest in front of you in Coach. (not so on the trans-water flight to Tokyo)
It is a very old airbus they use between Tokyo and the states for Northwest, adn usually Continental too. I have flown the NW flight about 50 times. Why? because our company books and pays for it and then I have all of these miles for free flights on the same path...... Half of the time, when teh company pays, I am in Business Class and it is BARELY better than Coach. (even more insulting actually since the ticket is so much money and STILL sucks)

So take Delta for a few more dollars... believe me, it must be better from what your experience. All you can ask from Northwest is that htey get you there alive. (and don't expect to get your luggage in a timely manner either... even if your bag is marked "PRIORITY Business Class"... they still lost it)

If you want an incredible flight to or from Korea, use Korean Air. It is a little bit more expensive, but the service and comfort is excellent. I paid $2,569 for a 2nd class seat from Incheon to Syracuse NY, and back.

The cheapest fare for now would have to be Northwest Airways, it's not bad; but Korean Air blows it away with service. I paid $989 for a one way to NY 3 months ago.

Well, I would probably say that every flight to Korea is a bad flight because its at least 14 hours of sitting. I flew united almost everytime I made the trip, and I'm a longer legged person and I can't say that there was a ton of leg room. It wasn't the worst, and if it was a 2-3 hour flight I'd probably say it was great, but 14 hours of sitting in a seat with only a few inches of 'wiggle room' wasn't exactly fun. I've flown delta for other flights, and they seem to have about the same amount of leg room(Though their flight attendants do seem a bit friendlier).

Anyway, my advice is go for the cheap ticket unless you're getting first class, because in my opinion it won't make a big enough difference in coach. Tell your friend to take nyquill and sleep through the discomfort. When he wakes up he'll be in Korea and it will be all better.

Last year i flew to Korea with United airlines and it was great.
I traveled with my sister it was my first overseas trip and was really fun if ur not too upper class=P

Nope.Korean airlines is awesome! Especially flying first class!!

I was travelling from China to North Korea
and during the trip North Korean Pilot said that we need to jump becuase he canot lad because he is going to another place to his wife
so we jumped
it was cool
but a little dangerous

i flew with US airways and had a great flight until i got off the plane, because i realized i was in korea.

The best airline I have flown on in the world is Singapore Air. The price is great, service is superb, on demand video works awesome, seats are wide and space between them was acceptable.
I am 72.75'' tall and 261lbs and have been most comfortable on Singapore.
The downside is that they go to limited places in the US. If I cannot get Singapore Air I fly with Asiana, but that is only because they are in the Star Alliance (as is United) with Singapore Air.

Edit:
Wow, whose mom did I insult to get so many thumbs downs? bobby, is that you?
