What would be one thing you can look back and laugh at?

What kept me there was the incredible family values and awareness people have. Families always stick together in times of turmoil and death. Friends are like family, and almost everyone in Korea has "jeong." Which is the feeling that everyone is close and has something in common. I learned the language and was always accepted by my students and my wifes family. Going out together for a drink sometimes, and going to Karaokie was a blast.

I've left because there are not many benefits for foreigners even if you have an F2 or F5 visa. There is no social security or cheap insurance coverage for people like us over there. Democracy is still young there, so the immigration policies are up and down.

I'm only 23. but I know when I'm an old man I will be retiring to my Dae Han Min Guk.

I once saw a picture in a newspaper of an anti-US rally where one of the girls in the front of the pack was wearing a West Point shirt. That was awesome.

An oath to follow the lawful orders of those appointed over me is what keeps me in Korea.

While sitting in the special red seats on the subway and wondering why everyone else was forced to stand up and not making any attempt to sit in the empty red section across from us. Looking back realizing that we, young, married, 20 year olds, were seated in the reserved section for seniors, disabled and pregnant people. What makes me laugh even more is that fact that it took us a good two weeks of using the subway before we caught on.
Keeping us here? The money. The ability to pay down student debt that would otherwise take at least 10 years of working full time in our home country of Canada to pay back. The fact that we've only been here for six months and already we're heading on our second major trip for three weeks. We are beyond fortunate to be able to live here and are thankful to Korea for everything it has given us thus far.

My visit to korea for the summer two years ago. and how i would amost cry every night because it was so HOTTT!! grr y is korean air conditioning so expensive?? i felt like i was going to explode. and so many nasty mosquitos in my ears, that was so annoying. I used to want to come back to the states every single night. But now i want to go back :( sigh. korea is fun, have to admit that, even though the heat and the mosquitos suck.
