I just heard that people in Korea don't use deoderant. Is this true?

My friend is over there right now and says he can't find deodorant anywhere. Why do they not use deodorant? Is there something else they use instead?

Very few people in Korea do, my wife doesn't and anyone in her family doesn't either. But none of them have any sort of B.O.. The reason for this is because many of them do not eat fried foods like we do in the west. They eat mostly vegetables and meat that is cooked over a grill. They love their fish as well, which never gives us B.O.. Unfourtunately even with my time in Korea, I still needed to buy deoderant. It's about 6 bucks for an Old Spice. It's outside the exit next to Gecko's and down the side street about a block. Lottemart also carries some weak spray. I usually bought it in Itaewon. (the only time I was allowed to go there lol) Since we've been in the states my wife has been eating American food, but she still has no B.O..

They don't use stick deodorant and it's quite rare to find in Korea, if you do it's expensive.
However a lot of people use a body spray type of deodorant. Report It

Lots of countries don't use deodorant; they simply don't care about the odor, and consider it normal. Not my preference, certainly, but everybody is different.

i've spent a lot of time in Korea but never noticed if they sold deodorant in stores (except for the military px's). I can tell you one thing though, Kimchee (the fermented cabbage staple of their diet) has a very strong odor and it permeates everything. I don't think they even need deodorant.

On average, Asians actually do not need deodorant. They do not have strong body odor like white or black people, so they don't need deodorant.

I don't believe what you heard is true.

Just this past weekend my wife and I were walking through one of the market places close to where we live.

A couple of the stores had on display (either in the window or on shelfs) American-made roll-on deodorants, such as BAN.

I also noticed that these did not have the little (imported item) sticker on the backside of the product.

These little stickers denote that the item was imported legally (through the Korean Government system).

Also, whenever a person walks through any PX/BX within South Korea, a person will notice the shelf is almost bare of the item such as these, usually within hours of being put on the shelf.

I can only suggest your friend contact PX/BX personnel and special-order deodorant; this way, they should (usually?) be assured of receiving the item when it arrives.

You can buy a deoderant. Koreans use deodorant but not many. Ask your friend to look harder.

they use soap with strawberry smell

NO ITS NOT TRUE KOREANS ARE USING DEODORANT

Most Koreans don't use deodorant because they don't need it. Most Korean women don't need to shave their legs because they don't have any hair to shave. That's just how it is.

Max: Koreans still smell bad, but it's not because of body odor. It's because of the food. Try to sit in a bus filled with ajumas and tell me that the odor is delightful.

Of course they don't. Theyre not stinkiy like a lot of other nationalities. Koreans produce a natural phemorone that is delightful to the olfactory senses of all peoples!!
