Never been to Korea, anything I should know before I go?

I have never been to Korea, or never even considered it, until I made some great Korean friends in Tokyo. I went to school with them in Japan, and I really enjoyed learning some Korean from them, hahaha, especially from the girls, they got me to stick my tongue out and say mero, whatever that means, hahaha. Well Im going to go to school there, but I don't know the language or anything about the culture. Anything I should know? For example, in Japan, taking off shoes in some places, not smoking in public, etc. stuff like that. Thanks!

1. Take off your shoes when entering houses (as they do in Japan)
2. Koreans have age respect - When eating the Eldest starts first / If you were to ride a bus and an older person comes on the bus you have to let them sit down.
3. Strong national pride (Mentioning your bad impression on Korea is a no-no especially comparing Korea with Japan!)
4. When you receive something, use both of your hands and that is considered to be more polite.
5. Spicy food and you'll love it!
6. Koreans are generally more straightforward than Japanese.
7. Don't worry about safety and personal crime because they rarely happen!

A little bit of of Korean will be useful: http://www.survivalphrases.com/korean.

good choice never going. its full of AZNs and nothing else. expect a lot of second hand smoke and a lot of bad drivers.

Pickpockets everywhere.
