Korean typing with american keyboard?

I have a korean boyfriend, whom lives in korea(of course). I can speak korean, but I can't communicate with him in korean because of my stupid american keyboard( thank god he knows english). He says it would be nice If I could talk type to him in korean sometime but.. all those squares!!!
I want to know how I can type to him in those squares with my american keyboard...is it possible?

When I used a translator website, he said " Are you using translation machine? The characters I can not understand"
But I was using Bable fish, is there any better translation sites, because that site has failed me several times as far as understandable translation goes...

yeah you can, I used to live in korea and there is a program that you can download. Then you go into your settings and figure it out. I did it like 5 years ago so i cant remember, but I have proof 鞎堨榿. Check under regional and language settings in control panel, maybe your computer already has the script. Can you read it when he types korean to you? because if you can't you dont need any programs. A good comp should already allow you to enable the script for reading under control panel.

See if you can get some translation software, there must be such a thing; look at all the communications between countries in business, it has to be possible.

Good luck.

Why don't you just buy a Korean keyboard? I'm sure it would take some getting used to, but it might be worth it.

ya but it depends on where ur talkin to him?? u hold ctrl and hit 3 difrent numbers and then let go of ctrl and look at wat u wrote? but u can't do it on here!!! idk y?

if i understood you correctly your computer cannot read or type in Korean? if that's so you can go to "start menu" --> "control panel" --> "date, time, language, and regional options" --> "regional and language options." once youre there, in the "languages" tab go to "supplemental language support" section, it should have "Install files for East Asian languages" check it if its not already checked. i dont remember but i think you have to restart your computer. (if you have to restart, please do) and after that you can go to the place i told you above (start menu --> control panel --> date, time, languages, and regional options --> regional and language options) and go to the "languages" tab again and click "Details..." In the "settings" tab click "add" and find "korean" and click "ok" (this is to type in Korean...)
im not sure about this one but to read korean try going to "advanced" tab in "regional and language options" and set everything to Korean... after you do all these, if you dont know where the korean alphabets are on the keyboard... you can go to image.google.com and search "korean keyboard.." but to make your life much easier i already got the link for you >> http://www.enfour.com/korean/images/hang...

hope this answered your question...

I have the same problem before as I am using the standard notebook with English alphabet characters. If you are using Windows XP or Vista you just need to install the East Asian Font Pack which is just enabled in the language settings as mentioned by 1krn. You may need to have you Windows Installer CD ready as it will ask for certain file on the installation disc to install the fonts and enable Global IME (International Input Method -- allows you to type in Chinese, Japanese Korean both Hangul and Hanja)

Once the East Asian Font pack is installed you can enable it in your language setting under 'Details' where you can and choose KOREAN as one of the languages that your PC can type. Command bar will be available allowing you to use Korean font by just pressing ALT.

It will be a bit slow at the begginging as you don't have the Korean character markings in your keyboard (unless you have samsung PCs or keyboard) but you can use IME Pad where you can draw the character for the PC to recognize what you are writing.

oh! you want to type in Korean using American keyboard?
here's what you have to do.

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Click Regional and Languages Options
3. Click LANGUAGES tab
4. Click DETAILS
5. From there, just add KOREAN input system and the language.
