Hi, I am teaching English to Korean kids and would like to know which Westeners are famous in Korea?

I would like to know if they know any famous Western sports stars,which Western music they like and which movie stars they know.
Can anyone help?

Since I'm from a different generation than the answerers before mine, I believe your question merits a definitive answer.

You did say famous, as opposed to popular? All answerers before me are naming popular people, as opposed to famous people.

I asked a Korean friend (south Korean, in the north korea they don't have any contacts with western world) Herry potter, lord of the rings, star wars...then they don't usually listen to western songs, and also about the sport they are interested to the asian one, for example the chinese one...

oh yeah , koreans definitely listen to american music too , even though many are more into popular korean music. last time i asked , justin timberlake was a first answer :] britneyspears , jessica simpson possibly , but not sure if they're popular there anymore ... :/ i think some might probably know tom cruise , or brad pitt .

Ummm...Unfortunately all western stars/music idol's are a disgrace to this country and will ultimately be the down fall of our culture....tell them to be interested in Korean stars...I'm sure they are much more put together and Respectable.

a Korean Friend told me, that they like tom cruise brad pitt and matt damon..well, she answered name of boys coz she loved the three of them..hehe..
