Is Korea as high tech and clean as Japan?

My friends told me that it's almost identical to Japan, and has changed over the years! I really want to go to Korea but getting a visa there is really hard and I think I have to wait at least 6 months. I'm half Korean and half Japanese living in California and been to Tokyo and Kyoto many many times and love it!

Is Korea as nice as Japan? Thanks...

yes korea is very nice and clean in some big city areas. but every city got bad areas that look like a dump

why dont u ask korea genuas!

Honestly I've only been to the Tokyo airport but I have been to Seoul twice and I love it. I think it's such a fun place. I keep on hoping my husband will be stationed there again and get to bring the family. The people are so great.

Japan is much cleaner than Korea. People in Japan don't use their streets as a dumpster or toilet like they do in Korea.

In technology, I would say Korea is right there with Japan now. Samsung and LG are solid companies.

If you're an American citizen, you don't need to wait 6 months to get a visa. You can fly to Korea with only a passport and stay for up to 30 days.

Korea has good points and bad points like any country, but it's definitely not as tourist friendly as Japan.

I went to Seol, Korea and Tokyo, Japan this last summer and they were both great places to visit. I would say Tokyo is a lot cleaner than Korea but I think it's hard for any country to compare to Tokyo's cleanliness (there are people handing out napkins with ads in them about every other block). I think Korea compares to parts of Los Angeles and San Francisco in cleanliness.
Technology-wise they are pretty close but Japan is probably the most technologically advanced country in the world -- at least they make use of the most technology in every day life.
I'm not sure what you mean by nice when you ask if korea is as nice as Japan but the people in Japan sure aren't nicer. They don't make eye contact and it seems like they are all very reserved. I loved the food in Japan though. I think it was better than the food in Korea but food in Korea is a lot cheaper. Tokyo will suck up your money faster than any other place that i know of.

As high-tech--yes. As clean--unfortunately no. The air quality is much worse in Korea and if you expand your inquiry to include noise pollution then it's not even close. If clean air is important to you but you still want a vibrant city life, I strongly suggest you give Busan a try. It's quite similar in many ways to San Francisco, and the quality of life is vastly superior to that in Seoul in my honest opinion. You just won't have nearly as many options when eating out.

korea is very high tech country similar to japan i think,
but.. uhm.. one years ago i've been to Tokyo and surprised at cleaness ,,, korea is not as clean as japan but it doesn't mean dirty... i think Tokyo is too clean heh....

anyway it's obvious korea is high tech country...

oh and i'm korean . living in seoul

I guess I am repeating what others have said.. I lived in TOkyo and yokohama for a few years and now I live in seoul. (I am AMerican) Japan is hte clear winner in cleanliness..
there is no one in teh world who could argue that.
Simply put, Korea has not worked out a trash collection/disposal system. I am in teh heart of Seoul, with 15 million other people and my garbage is collected by an old man who runs up and down our hill with a large wheelbarrow...
There are no trash cans in Seoul.. people just pile their garbage onto the sides of lampposts and such... or on top of hte 1 lone garbage can.
It is not too uncommon for people to just pee in teh street... although this is changing. but you will still see moms just let their kids squat at the busstops.
These things are unheard of in Tokyo.
I was in Yokohama in March and I PURPOSEFULLY ran my hand along the wall of the subway station in Yokohama station. I have been in Korea so long, I just couldn't believe how clean it was... as clean as when I had moved away 6 years ago. (not all stations like this in Tokyo obviously)

Anyway, for technology, Samsung and LG are right up there.
Even if they do not have that reputation yet in teh states.

No we are not high tech and clean. we are like very fun and love country, not robotic. you know wot I mean?

hmmm/ur korean and japanese?did ur mom and dad ever fight about that WWII thing?i wanted to go to japan is it nice?how much did it cost to go to japan, cuz i'm korean, but i'm afraid people might hate me in japan, because of that whole thing about WWII

which part of Korea;; theres north and south

I have never been to either, although my brother has been to Japan visiting family friends that live there. He described it as being very clean and an extremely wealthy area. And from the pictures I saw I believe that to be true.

Korea, I don't know anyone who has been there ALTHOUGH, you should watch a documentary that was about the fighting of North Korea and South Korea that still goes on today, I think it was on the National Geographic channel.

They showed the people living in extreme poverty and not being able to even breathe without giving praise to their dictator. It really seemed like a frightening and tough place to visit, let alone live.
