How is south korea like?

i want to go study abroad there, but then i'm having some second thoughts because there are also other asian countries to chose from,

basically i want to know
how a foreigner is treated (but im filipino-american)
life styles
if it is as fabulous as k-daramas

or just give me anything about south korea

it actually depends on the k-drama, coz sometimes staffs really fix things or make it as chaotic as possible for the sake of the story...

South Korea is a very beautiful country. I'm korean with mix blood. And i'm just like one of those people sent to different countries to improve my english. I lived in california for 6 years and 1yr in the philppines. Traveling a lot makes me appreciate my country more.Although, the hospitality of filipinos is really great.

Life here could be fabulous if you live and study in the right place. Since it's hard to communicate using english, I suggest that you study basic korean first. You should also get used to the changes every season (i mean adjusting~~)... You should learn how to adjust fast, coz since you're not korean, it's hard to ask for help (coz of difficulty in communication). ~~i'm not saying koreans aren't helpful... hehe~~

All-in-all, things here are well organized (the streets, traffic, etc.), but it's very different from US and the Philippines.. (trust me~~^^;;;)

Idk , but some Korean guys are hawt...

Have a Nice day.

My son and my filipino-american daughter-in-law were there for a year and were treated very well. They traveled a great deal and visited different parts of the country and they loved it! The people are very nice and they also really enjoyed much of the food as well. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Hey~I'm half Filipino and Half white...BUT I had no trouble in Korea and am actually pretty obsessed with it..lol. I went there in 2005 for a semester and came back to my home and thought of nothing else but moving to Korea again. I just got back from living there for a year...Its soo cool. Not all parts are as cool as the drama's, but thats a GOOD thing. It would be boring if it was. Actually, those places are in Seoul..I love Seoul...But Korea is great because you get to see the way that they have incorperated Western Culture with their own. Their will be tough times ahead...Especially when you experience things that you would consider "rude"...Just take it in stride. Don't compare your culture with Korean culture...when you're in Korea, try to think like a Korean or you'll drive yourself crazy~!! Just take it for what it is. Don't go with all these expectations...and just learn the language and the culture..I promise, you'll fall in LOVE!!! ~

If you do get homesick...their are tons of places where westerners can go to feel at home...Hooters, Outback, CPK, TGIFridays, Krispy Kreme..and on and on..But be sure to eat Korean food..ITS FANTASTIC!!

Remember to have an open mind~~ ^_^ GOOD LUCK!

One well known fact is that since almost all Korean are in need of learning English. You will really be more than welcome at least from them. As a Korean guy it is sad to see Korean girls meet western guys mainly for their English improvement and have a sexual relationship. I hate it but true.

very nifty.
i have infinity pict of it on myspace
peter colossal
but, with a trade mark

I was off on a holiday to Korea and Japan just a few days ago. I went to Japan first and wow, the people there were so friendly and polite! The people at the store, at the restaurant, theme parks etc. One time I was at a small clothes store and tried on one. But I later decide not to buy it and the sales lady still smiled sweetly and waived bye bye to me.

Then I went to Korea. What a change. The people were rougher. the people at the shops rarely smiled. If you trouble them they'll put on some bitter face. again, i was at a small clothes shop and tried on one. But I later didn't wanna buy it. And of course, that sour face came on again.

Guess not all Koreans are like that but compared to the Japanese, that's my impression. Considering the fact that I stayed in Japan 2 days more than in Korea! But I'm sure there are nice Koreans.

But Seoul was nice. But I say Tokyo was better. Anyway, in seoul, there's this shopping place called Dongdaemun and the clothes there are AWESOME! Super stylish! And almost every store's lined with stylish winter wear. Japanese clothes are as stylish too except I haven't gone to a place like Dongdaemun where they have a whole collection of clothes after clothes.

And lol, are those Korean dramas lifestyle that fabulous? I mean with all those cancer and deadly diseases always infecting somebody haha.

and oh ya, Seoul was cold during the winter. colder than Tokyo. I much prefer Tokyo's weather.

but you know, Singapore's a great place to study too! I'm studying there. There are several philippinos here in my school. And very few Eurasians like you. But they're not discrimated or anything here.

i think that viel person above me should go bury herself in a ditch

but yeah. i am half korean & born & raised here almost all my life
korea is a good place & of course every country has many people who are mean to foreigners. i have lived in japan, too
they are a little nicer, but not better
unless you have lived here all your life, i don't think anyone should judge a country based on a little stay, especially if you are america. not much is great about america either. just a bunch of stupid, fat, conceited people [ & yes i am american, & i can say what i want ]
but there are MANY, MANY filipino's here. almost as much as koreans. & they move here to start a better life, & that's coming from them saying that
so, korea is good. it depends where you are
& life here is fabulous. koreans are very wealthy & well off
