ooops, forgot to mention that we plan to go next month, so that will be winter time :) (i've excluded the arrival and departure days since that doesn't count into the sightseeing anyway)

v-man, thanks for the reply....any suggestions for winter? ski resorts, maybe? :)

thanks in advance to everyone who will reply!

5days are too short to look even around Seoul. I have visited Busan couple of times and realized Seoul has far more to offer to tourist than Busan. When my Japanese friend came to Korea on 3weeks schedule, I made a list of places in Seoul to go but we couldnt go to all of them because no time.

It depends on when you go. In the summer, I would recommend Busan --- especially Haeundae and Gwangalli beach areas. Shopping is great in Nampodong and there are seafood restaurants everywhere. Not to mention the prices are much lower than Seoul.

When I travel up to Seoul, I take KTX. It takes about 3 hours and the cost is around 50,000 won.

Edit: I don't ski, but I've had college students tell me that Gangwon-do in Seoul has the best resort. But, I can't remember the name of it. Maybe someone else will answer.

Also, for a winter visit of only 5 days, I think I would just stay in Seoul so you don't waste too much time in transit. I'm cringing to say this, but Seoul really has more to offer since it's too cold for the beaches in Busan now.

Have fun!
