We want to visit seoul, south korea frm february 5-10, 2008, how long is lunar new year celebrations?

we're worried that the roads will be deserted since new year falls on feb7? is it true that the lunar new year celebrations in korea can last up to 2 weeks? will there be public transport like bus or taxi that we can take to see around? will the tourist attractions like the Daejanggeum, National Folk Museum, Seoul tower etc be closed during these two weeks? Also is there snow sledding in Everland or do we need to go to a ski resort for that?

Please provide us with as much information as you can. We want to make the most of our winter vacation. Thanks to anyone who will reply promptly.

i've never heard of it lasting 2 weeks, officially it's 3 days (day of, day before, and day after) so this year it's feb 6-8. but since that's right before the weekend, i think most people will make 5 days out of it (feb 6-10). which is pretty much your whole vacation. but not everything will be closed that whole time, and it's not exactly a ghost town, since seoul's got 12 million+ people, and while alot of them go to their family's hometowns for the holiday, not everyone will. i think it'd be like christmas day here...many things closed, but not everything, and i don't remember public transit being stopped, but maybe it comes less often. and yes, everland had sledding last time i saw. a good place to get info is the Korea National Tourist Organization's official website:

enjoy your trip! :D

ps--while you're in korea, if you ever have any question, you can call the Korea National Tourist Organization's helpline at 1330 (weird...it's a very short phone number!) 24/7, even on holidays. they will look up bus schedules, restaurants, hotels, anything...they are SOOOOOO awesome!!! the nicest people~~

I don't have alot of information, I think there will still be public transport, just less of it.
