Why are Koreans in the U.S. referred to as "Asian Jews"? |
The term was "Oriental Jews" when I first heard it, but people these days don't use the term Oriental when describing Asians. Strong emphasis on education; prior to the influx of Asians, Jews were the so-called "model minority". There's also the African-American/Korean tensions in many cities, which strongly echoes African-American/Jewish tensions in years past. I've honestly never seen such a thing before. Where do people get these racial slurs? I have never heard that term before. But I assume it refers to Koreans' strong emphasis on education and their visible presence in small retail shops. It probably also refers to bigotry against them. Because some US citizens invent always no-sense expressions and words all kind only for fun or imagination..like stars war... I have never heard this, but one of my best friends is Korean, so I could guess. Because they think they work harder than the other Americans. Because Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese who come here have strong work ethics and many of the small retail shops like liquor stores, gift shops, dry cleaners, etc. Well, you would have to take the qualities of a Jewish person and apply them to a Korean, then you would figure it out. I am not sure if it is meant as a compliment or a slur. seriously, I hope you're kidding. Really? Never heard of it. Koreans are referred to as 'Asian Jews' because they strongly emphasize education and they'll do anything to make money. I have heard Koreans in general (all around the world, not just in the US) being referred to by that term as well as 'Asian Irish.' I agree with one of the responders on how those terms express the bigotry Koreans receive(d) like the Jewish and Irish. I don't think it's a racial slur.. more like a comparison. Hey nacho, you don't have to be pc but don't be a rascist. Are you related to hitler by chance? |
