Assuming English is not your native language, it depends on what you want to do in your life. It could be very important or not important at all.

For the purposes of this forum, I don't think it's important as long as people can understand your messages. I agree with you that many people discriminate people lacking English skills.

It makes me sick when I hear a foreigner in Korea who doesn't speak a word of Korean say, "Don't you speak English?" Koreans are too polite to counter with, "Don't you speak Korean?"

there's really no one on earth that is perfect, though there r damn pricks out there that just can't seem to accept their lose and use other means to get satisfied. i guess u can't stop the child molesters, perverts and the scandalist all at one time.

For the better of you and your future, yes, it helps speaking better english. Yes people can understand you so why worry right. But, wouldn't it better if people can understand you right away instead of guessing your meaning? This might lead to a misunderstanding.

And plus, English is the international language. You can travel to a lot of countries with English. Namely the USA, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia etc. So go ahead, learn English now :).
