Anyone familiar with an English teaching program in Korea?

I'm looking for something that's reputable, maybe even affiliated with the Koran government. If you know of any, could you provide a link?

Thanks for your help in advance...

I remember your post in the Japan section about English Teaching positions similar to JET. I'm glad you're looking into Korea for teaching options also.

I can definitely suggest EPIK, which is Korea's equivalent to the JET Programme. You get all the same benefits as JET: free airfare, housing, health insurance, etc. Unlike JET though, they'll give you a settlement allowance upon arrival in Korea (about $500), allow you to get another job on the side of your main one, giving you the option to make more money (which JET strictly prohibits), and recruitment is semi-annual (rather than just annual like JET).

Peace!

When you started typing in the question I have to believe that 40 other similiar questions that have already been asked popped up.
I have no idea from first hand experience, but I have read the same answer over and over each week so many times that I could probably sound knowledgable.
But lets give credit where credit is due. Here is a link to a remarkably similiar question that is currently active:

If you're qualified to teach in a public school, you will be working for the Korean government.

If you proceed and end up getting hired, immigration has new requirements for E-2 visas, effective Dec. 15, 2007. You will need a criminal background check, health check certificate and an interview with a Korean consulate member in your home country.

Good luck!
