has any1 being to kenya and booked a 4 day safari without using the holiday reps,ie booked it when you got there,if so what was it like and how much did it cost

I live in Kenya.
if you are a foreigner, you are alot better off booking everything once you arrive in Kenya. The tourists business rips off foreigners and makes them pay twice what they should be paying.

We booked through the rep. We did leave it until we got there and had heard many wonderful stories about cheap deals with beach boys and such. However when we arrived we just weren't convinced to part with the best part of 拢400 with someone on a beach.
I'm sure that many are very safe and authentic and I have no reason to doubt this, however we did not want to risk it.
If you decide to do this check that your insurance will cover you for booking with someone else.
I'm sure you will have a fantastic time no matter what you choose to do.
We did a three day safari (two nights) staying at Voi Wildlife Lodge in Tsavo East and Serena Kilaguni Lodge in Tsavo West both lodges were fantastic as was the whole safari experience. It cost us about 拢220 each all inclusive for the whole safari and lodges.
