Do I need a visa for Kenya?

I am going to Kenya in 2 weks andhave just found out I may need $50 to enter and $20 to leave the country. My travel agent doesn't seem to know much aout it (a bit rubbish). Does anyone know if I need the money? I'm travelling from the UK

hello,
yes, you need visa.
look here

http://kenya.visahq.com/requirements/Uni...
you have a possibility to see visa fees here.
i wonder why your travel agent doesn't know the information concerning this.

I would try to find more info on this site. Good luck and have fun!!

Check with the Kenya embassy to know for sure but when I went to Kenya I had to have a Visa, $20.00 to leave and a return ticket. If you do not have what they require they will not allow you entry. If you do not have a visa at this point you will probably have to go to the embassy in person. Oh yes I believe I'd use a better informed travel agent next time or at least one willing to give you a straight answer.

Yes, of course you will need and too you will need vaccine for avoid yellow fever, this is serious, so your agent should explain you that you must not swim in lakes and be careful about safaries.

Yes, you need $50 for your entry visa - valid for 3 months. You no longer need $20 when leaving - that used to be for airport departure tax but it is now supposed to be included in your ticket.

There is no visa requirement for citizens of the Republic of Ireland and Commonwealth countries with the exception of citizens from Antigua, Bermuda, Guyana, India, South Africa (for visitors staying more than 30 days), Sri Lanka and United Kingdom. Visa is also not required from citizens of Ethiopia, San Marino, Turkey, Eritrea and Uruguay. Citizens of the following countries need to have a visa prior to arrival in Kenya Afghanistan, Somali, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Mali, Sudan, Nigeria, Yemen, Cameroon, Pakistan, North Korea. Whereas visas can be obtained at the Airport upon arrival, it is advisable to obtain the visa from the Kenyan Embassies/High Commissions abroad prior to departure. Where applicable, visa fees are as follows: - Transit Visa = US$20 per person Single Entry Visa= US$50 for three months (extendable for a similar period) Multiple Entry Visa= US$100 鈥?valid

If you are intending to have a multi-destination tour within East Africa, you are advised to request for the "Visitors Pass" upon arrival at the Airport. The purpose of the Visitors Pass is to allow free re-entry to Kenya if you are travelling to the other East African countries (Uganda, Tanzania/Zanzibar). You will still however require to pay visa charges for the other countries.

The Visitors Pass is stamped on the passport free of charge for full visa holders.

A Certificate of inoculation against Yellow fever is required from travellers older than one year and originating from yellow fever endemic areas (i.e. along the tropics 20 N and 10 S. Visitors from the rest of the world are not affected.

You are advised to try and avoid mosquito bites by using repellant and by wearing suitable cover-up clothes in the evening.

Hotels and lodges supply clean drinking water but whenever in doubt, please insist on bottled mineral water from a certified source - this is readily available from most hotels and stores. Outside Nairobi and Mombasa, drinking water from the tap is not encouraged.

There are very good hospitals in the main towns of Kenya and the rural areas have small health centres where one can get first aid. It is highly recommended that all visitors carry some form of medical insurance to cater for any eventualities. Please ask your Tour Operator for more details on the Flying Doctor Service.
