What time does it get dark in Nairobi at the moment? and is it safe for a female to walk ...?

...alone in the middle of the city, during the day and after dark? I am going there next weekend and wondering what sort of things I need to be aware of. Thanks!

between 6.30-7. its safe in some good areas. be careful and don't be out in areas that you're not sure of on your own. get a taxi if you want to go out somewhere at night, theyr safe, just agree a price before you get in or they could try and get more than is fair. During the day you'll be fine in the city centre but just be sensible,, don't flaunt cash or jewellery and try to act like you know what your doing and where you're going. Its a brilliant city and you'll love it but due to poverty there are some dangers. just be careful and it'll be great!!

Alone after dark isn't a good thing, however it depends on the district (much like any other city). I wouldn't recommend wandering around at night, certainly not late. . day time you should be fine.

Around 7:30-ish. and whatever you do DO NOT walk anywhere alone by yourself, no matter WHAT time of the day or night. Iv been there, and trust me you dont wanna do that. Its extremely dangerous.

7-7.30 pm. In central business District it is safe to walk alone during the day,but avoid any walk during the night. It could be dangerous.

in nairobi it gets dark around 7.30 of course some areas are unsafe for a woman to walk around alone but if its late and ur in the city center its better to keep uptown and not walk downtown.otherwise there are plenty of safe places and a sure sign is to look at the people walking alongside u on the street then u will get some idea of how safe it is

its pretty safe during the day but just use common sense. There is crime in every major city so just don't wander around looking confused or lost or flaunting wealth. keep a close hold on your valubles like your purse. As long as you are smart you shouldn't expect any trouble.

It gets dark quite early and there isn't much dusk. It passes quite suddenly from day to night. It is not at all safe to go out alone even by day in Nairobi. Another thing to look out for is your valuables. The Kenyans are very friendly but some will try to rip you off by promising to show you the sites for money and by selling things which are fake or at crazy prices. Be very wary of that. Enjoy your time there though. Tipping in the hotels is expected.

I think in the day time its ok but after its dark,,,that is a no no...i walked once at night by myself and was followed by two guys who were speaking to me in swahili, which i dont understand, i was pretty freaked out!!!!

around 12:45 pm in the evening,i would not advice you to take a risk by walk in the night all alone as a foreigners unless u have been in there before

Right now its dark by 7. But that varies according to the season, so give or take 30mins from that. It depends on what part of the city you're at. But generally it's not advisable to walk around after dark. It's better to take a cab. The city center is well lit at night, but many residential areas aren't. I'd say between 7am and 7pm is relatively safe. If you're gonna be out in the afternoon, wear sunscreen.
